Over the years, we have shared many book lists for kids, filled with amazing stories. I love pulling together collections of books that I know kids, tweens, and even teens will enjoy. What goes best with a good book is a great bookmark. This is why I ventured into making creative, free printable bookmarks for kids. A great craft for kids or to go along with an awesome book for kids. *updated in 2026*

When I was a child, my mom would always gift us a new bookmark with every book we received. Even if it was just the free bookmarks she picked up at the library or at the bookstore. A bookmark is an important part of the reading experience.

How to Print and Use Printable Bookmarks
supplies you will need
printer paper or card stock - white and colorful
pencil crayons, markers, and crayons
double-sided tape
scissors
I like to print my bookmarks on white cardstock paper. I find the cardstock paper is more durable than regular printer paper, and the markers I use don't bleed through the paper. I also like to add a second piece of colorful cardstock to the back of the bookmarks. I cut this second rectangle a little larger than the bookmark. This gives each bookmark a colorful border and more durability.
These bookmarks are a wonderful creative activity for the classroom or for home use. For early readers, a bookmark can underline the text and help kids keep track of their place on the line. As kids grow, they can jot down their ideas or inspiration on the back of a bookmark. And, don't forget the critical role they play in protecting the pages of your books!
Our colouring bookmarks take the bookmark to a whole new level. The kids can get creative and colour their own bookmarks to keep or share. We have bookmarks for almost every holiday and season. So, you are sure to find a set of bookmarks that inspires you and your kids to get creative. However, you choose to use these bookmarks, I hope you and your readers enjoy the messages and designs all year round!
