I grew up playing soccer. I have a real love for the beautiful game. And, you know I love making fun printable bookmarks for kids. If you have kids in your life who love to play and watch, then they will have fun getting creative with our printable soccer bookmarks.

The big question is - do you call it soccer or football? Honestly, I'm Canadian, and we use it interchangeably. We definitely know football as either American football or soccer. That's pretty typical for us...we blend cultures here. Anyhow, back to the bookmarks. My printable bookmarks are a super easy activity for kids (and adults). They are a fun activity for a rainy day or a classroom art activity. And, with this year being the World Cup, I know everyone is extra excited about soccer.

Begin by printing our soccer bookmarks. Now, I prefer printing my bookmarks on white cardstock. I like cardstock because it is stronger than regular printer paper. Using cardstock means your bookmark will be a little more durable. Also, I like how much brighter my pencil crayons and markers look on cardstock. And, markers won't bleed through the paper when you use cardstock. However, you can simply use printer paper if that's all you have on hand.

Once you've printed the bookmarks, it's time to decide if you are going to cut them into the 4 individual bookmarks or color them as a full coloring sheet. I've kept mine together, but if you are using these bookmarks in a classroom, you might want to cut them into individual bookmarks.

The designs I chose include everything about soccer. The equipment that players wear to play. The trophy you might win. The shout of "GOAL". And, an image of kids playing soccer. There's a bookmark for everyone to color in this collection.

Once you are done coloring the bookmarks, you can use them as they are or you can take an extra step. I like to add a second layer of cardstock to my bookmarks. I use double-sided tape to adhere the white bookmark to a sheet of colorful paper. Cut the colorful paper to reveal a little border of color around the bookmark. This not only adds another layer of durability, but it also adds another pop of color.

What to do with your DIY bookmarks

When the bookmarks are finished, you can slip them inside a new soccer book. There are so many great soccer books for kids and adults. I like to use my bookmarks in my work agenda book. And, of course, these bookmarks make a great gift for family and friends. I know many grandparents would love a kid-colored bookmark!

Which soccer bookmark is your favorite?
