Inspiring Coloring Bookmarks for International Women's Day

By Jen

international women's day bookmarks to print and color on pink background

Over the years I have shared many ways to celebrate International Women's Day and Women's History Month. We've shared some inspiring booklists, informative fact sheets and profiles of historic women. But, I thought we needed to have some fun printable bookmarks to go with all of those books.

I don't know about you, but I love a good bookmark. When I read a book I don't like to fold down the corner to mark my spot. I'd much rather pop in a cute bookmark. In fact, my mother (who was an avid reader) had a collection of over 100 bookmarks! Yep, I still use many of them.

WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY?

The first International Women’s Day was way back in 1911. IWD is a day to celebrate women’s accomplishments – economic, political, social, cultural, and more. Each IWD is also an opportunity to reflect on how we can improve conditions for women around the world. I imagine that it has a different meaning for different women around the world.

To celebrate International Women's Day and Women's History Month I thought it might be fun to share the words of some incredible women through bookmarks. I've included quotations from Michelle Obama, Malala You and Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

I wanted to make these bookmarks even more amazing, so I've made them colouring bookmarks. This means that you, your kids or your students get to add all the colour and personality to the bookmarks. Fun idea, right?

Start by printing off a copy of our International Women's Day inspirational printable colouring bookmarks. Then get to work adding whatever colours you like. Use markers, crayons, pencil crayons - whatever you have on hand.

We use double-sided tape to adhere our bookmarks to a piece of colourful cardstock. Alternatively, you could print the bookmarks onto a sheet of cardstock, or go with regular printer paper. It's totally up to you.

Now, don't forget to add your own favourite quotation to the blank bookmark. This is where you can really shine and share a message. Do you have a favourite female character from a book? Is there a quotation you love? Try and choose something inspiring.

Looking for another way to use these bookmarks? Our International Women's Day inspirational printable colouring bookmarks would make a great addition to a gift. Pass along your favourite book and include our bookmarks for the recipient to colour. What a fun addition to any gift.

Our colouring bookmarks are a great classroom activity. Print enough for each student to colour their own and on International Women's Day or at some point during Women's History Month.
