Our story writing prompts are super simple to use. Simply print off our fall story writing prompts for kids cut them out and share them with your child or student. It's that simple.

How to Use Story Writing Prompts

There are a few ways that we like to use our writing prompts. One option is to place the cutout strips into a mason jar and have your child reach into the jar and pull out a prompt - totally at random.

The kids can read a book or two and then pick a fall story writing prompt from the pile and create a new book. Be sure to check out our post all about how to create a creative story writing kit - it's filled with some other great resources and tips.

Finally, while these are story writing prompts they also work to spark storytelling with kids. Pass out these storytelling prompts around the dinner table, around the campfire, in the car on a long road trip or in the classroom. Turn story writing into storytelling and watch the imagination flow.

No matter how you choose to use these prompts, they are sure to lead to some awesome autumnal stories.
