Fun Summer Camp Crafts for Tweens

I have experienced many summers with kids. When the kids are little they can be easily entertained with a bucket of water or a pile of mud. As the kids grow up, things get a little more challenging. We have shared all kinds of fun and creative summer crafts for tweens and amazing summer art projects for tweens, but I wanted to pull together a collection of summer camp crafts for tweens.

Summer camp crafts are those crafts that you remember from your youth. Simple summertime crafts that can be done in a group. As the kids get older they are drawn to their devices to be entertained. Summer can become a blur of video games, Netflix and TikTok. While I know full well that there will still be time on the phones, these summer camp crafts are fun little projects that can pull your tween’s attention – if even for a few hours.

10+ Creative Summer Camp Crafts for Tweens

Okay, let’s kick things off with the classic summer camp craft…making friendship bracelets. We have shared how to make beaded friendship bracelets and Crafts by Amanda shares how to make cute braided friendship bracelets. With a few craft supplies, the kids can make a huge pile of bracelets.

Weaving is another great summer craft. In fact, my daughter attended a summer camp where she learned how to weave on a simple loom. I love this summer weaving project from Childhood 101. Look how she incorporates branches into the piece.

Frugal Fun for Boys shares how to make these totally out of this world Star Wars tin lanterns. What a fun summertime craft project to make.

Here’s a fun crafty activity for those bug-loving kids in your house. Babble Dabble Do shares how to build a bug hotel with simple supplies.

Summer is a great time for garden crafts! We share how to make wildflower seed bombs that are easy to make and fun to watch grow.

Friendship bracelets are fun, but do you remember making beaded safety pins for your shoes when you were a kid? Safety pin crafts were all the rage in the 80s. We share how to make your own patterned beaded friendship pins for your shoes. A fun craft to share with your friends.

Rock crafts are another traditional camp craft. Gather up a pile of rocks on your trip to the beach and then transform them into a pot full of super cute rock cacti. Craftberry Bush shares how to create beautiful cactus rocks.

I love this beaded wind chime from Garden Therapy. I imagine the sound of those little bells swinging in the summer breeze. Perfect addition to the summer patio.

There are so many amazingly artistic things kids can draw with sidewalk chalk. What about making your own sidewalk chalk? Playful learning shares the recipe and how-to instructions for making sidewalk chalk in all kinds of colours. Once you have your chalk, the rest is up to you.
