A Fall Weekend Away

It's time for the Outdoor Play Party and what better time to share our family weekend away to Blue Mountain. We had the absolute pleasure of spending a beautiful and activity filled weekend exploring Blue Mountain Village, the shops at Blue and the restaurants at Blue. Blue Mountain is a ski and snowboarding resort in the winter months, but in the fall, when the mountain bikers take to the hill, I think the area is equally amazing. family weekend away

Outdoor Activities for Kids

Our weekend was filled with outdoor activities. We kicked things off with a ride through the trees, on the all-season Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster. We climbed inside our little car and made the climb to the top of the ride. Once at the top we soared down the 1,085 meter long roller coaster - which we control the speed! Exhilarating, fun and a little bit terrifying.

We hit the mini-putt course in the afternoon...and I almost beat my husband...not that it mattered who won. The sun was shining, the sky was a vibrant blue and the trees were painted all the colours of fall - a perfect day. mini putt

Hands down my daughters' favourite activity was the Woodlot Low Ropes Course. While I spent some time at the Scandinaive Spa, my husband and daughter took to the trees. The staff at the Low Ropes Course were fantastic. My family trekked their way around the self-guided course; 25 different aerial elements, including suspended logs, beams, ropes and cables. Perfect for first time climbers. The climb gave my girls a new found confidence and a whole slew of awesome memories. blue mountain collage

There was so much to do and so little time. We didn't even get a chance to go for a hike. The great thing is that Blue Mountain is not too far from the city...about a 2 hour drive...that we are already making plans to go back again. Next time we might aim for a winter ski adventure. After all, winter is coming.

Our family weekend at Blue Mountain Resort was provided courtesy of the Toronto Snow Show and Blue Mountain Resort, however the opinions expressed are my own.

Speaking of trying things for the first time, I loved Wild Family Fun's surfing post from last weeks party. Brilliant! outdoor play party
