Outdoor Play Party - 5 fun ways to explore the park

By Jen

Sometimes, when we go to the park we simply stick to the playground. While we play on the equipment provided we miss out on all the other opportunities for play that surround us. Last week we visited a local park and took the time to really explore every corner. So, how can you make the most of your next visit to the park?
Climb a tree...why not?! No one said the tree has to be huge. Just grab the trunk and climb aboard!

Leave a little something behind...like a fairy house. Take some time to slow down and create a fairy house that the next child who comes along can enjoy (or the next fairy).

Jump in the water! If there's water, why not jump on in. Use whatever the park has - splash pad or wading pool...cool down and have fun.
go swimming
Grab a seat under a tree and enjoy a good book. I love reading to my children outside in the fresh air...it really adds to the story.

Don't forget the playground. Climb, swing, jump, run, crawl, tumble, balance and laugh all the way through the playground.

The last Outdoor Play Party was filled with so many amazing ways that folks have been playing and creating outdoors. It was so much fun to see the various ways that people are celebrating the London Olympics...there are some great ideas out there! The post I fell in love with comes from Word Play House. Take a look at their beautiful new swing and the joy that something so simple can bring to a child...well, everyone.
So many fabulous outdoor activities and stories linked at the last outdoor play party. If you were featured this week, go ahead and grab our "Featured at the Outdoor Play Party" button for your site.

We could spend all day at the park - no shortage of things to do there, is there?

This looks like a great way to spend a day - love the little things you left for someone to discover later.

I love all of these ideas. Classic childhood outdoor fun 🙂 We love everything on your list, and R is currently sporting some scrapes from climbing trees. The way it should be 🙂 hehe
