There has been a major development in our house this summer. My youngest daughter, has learned how to ride her bike...2 wheels! My eldest daughter, has been on 2 wheels for a couple of summers now, she's an excellent little rider. So, what does this mean to our family? It means that we are able to expand our exploration of our neighbourhood. We can hop on our bikes and ride into far off places in minutes.
Last week, we went on our first major bike ride. I think we ended up riding around 10 kms, total, that day. Of course, I carry a lot of snacks and water, so we can take plenty of breaks. We stopped to check out the boats and the ducks.
We stopped to rest under some trees.
And, we stopped to have a run around in the playground.
Adding bikes to our outdoor repertoire has been pretty exciting! In the last Outdoor Play Party it was great to see other people adding simple, readily available, items to their outdoor play activities.
The kids at Curly Bug hopped onto the most versatile and fun "toy" available, a cardboard box. I love their cardboard lawn raft.
Over at Love, Play, Learn they grabbed some towels out of the linen closet and created a water balloon toss game.
And, Sunny Day Today Mama had fun using a simple washing bin to create a sand pit, complete with dinosaur bones to dig up!
