We are super busy getting ready for one of the greatest outdoor events of the year...Halloween. There is something awesome about a night when everyone throws on a costumes and heads outside to explore. We love passing our friends on the street. Kids giggling as they walk along. What a great night for outdoor play. Here are 5 simple ways to have an adventure outdoors Halloween night...
Create a map
Before you head outside, take some time to make a map of where you are going to go. This gives your children a chance to map out landmarks, friend's houses and special spots they want to stop at. Who knows where this treasure map might lead you.

Bring a flashlight
The best way to do some night investigating is to bring along a flashlight...you never know what you might find under a rock at night!

Take your time
The key to any exploration is to take your time...slow down and enjoy the walk.

Don't forget the water
When my kids get cranky I know they need water...don't get stuck out on a night walk without any water.

Look up
While all your attention will be on chatting with friends and checking out costumes, adjust your focus and look up. You might catch sight of a bat, a shooting star or a witch on her broomstick...hey, you never know!

It's so funny that I always bring water with me on our outings but I have never brought it for Trick or Treating. Dehydration as much a sugar high may explain the innevitable spooky temper tantrum. 😉

Love the idea of mapping it out ahead of time, Jen! What a great night-before activity. Kids would love being involved in something like that!
