Love of Reading Bookmarks to Color

By Jen

love of reading bookmarks to color printed with title

Every book needs a bookmark and we've created all kinds of fun bookmarks for kids to color. We have shared all kinds of great bookmarks to print and color. Our back to school bookmarks are some of our favourites, because we love encouraging kids to read! This set of bookmarks is to celebrate just that - the love of reading.

I have a couple of kids who love reading. My eldest is a physical book lover. She likes the feel of the pages in her hand. While my youngest prefers reading her books online. Both ways are great. Any way that we can encourage our kids to read is great in my books. So, I totally support my online reader and my book reader.

Now, while you don't need a bookmark when you're reading books online that doesn't mean you don't need a bookmark for textbooks, journals and workbooks...right?! So, don't think that my online reader doesn't enjoy coloring her own bookmarks.

This collection of bookmarks celebrates the love of reading. I've designed this collection to encourage reluctant readers and to support book nerds.

Let's get into this crafty bookmark project! First, you need to print our reading bookmarks to colour for kids. Each sheet includes 4 different bookmark designs. You can print the bookmarks on standard printer paper. However, to make the bookmarks more durable I suggest using cardstock. Not only will the bookmarks last longer, but colouring on cardstock also helps the colours look brighter.

Once you have printed the bookmarks decide if you'd like to cut them into individual strips (to distribute) or if your kids are going to colour the whole lot at once.

Time to get creative! Use pencil crayons or markers and add glitter or stickers or whatever you like to the bookmarks. Let your creativity roll.

When the colouring is done, the bookmarks are done. If you like, you could add a second strip of colourful cardstock to the bookmarks. I like the border of colour and the added stiffness this gives the bookmarks. Simply use double-sided tape to secure the pieces together.

That's it, the bookmarks are ready to use or share.

How to Use Coloring Bookmarks

I love gifting a set of our colouring bookmarks to friends and family. A new book, a set of bookmarks and a pack of pencil crayons makes a fantastic gift for kids and adults. Perfect for Christmas, graduations, birthdays or any occasion.

These bookmarks are also a fantastic book activity for the classroom. Print a pile of these bookmarks and distribute them to the class as a book-related creative activity. They make a great addition to the school library too. Kids will love colouring their very own bookmarks.

Skip the birthday party loot bags filled with plastic toys and give each kid at your child's birthday party their own bookmark to colour. This could be a great activity to do at the party or for the kids to take home. I love a loot bag alternative that kids will actually use.

Finally, grandparents love receiving a bookmark their grandkid has coloured. Our colouring bookmarks are a fantastic gift for kids to give to their aunts, uncles and grandparents.
