Today’s post is a popular post from 5 years ago. I’ve pulled it out of the archives to introduce this lovely fall craft to readers again. Enjoy.
As we head into this Canadian Thanksgiving weekend I am thankful for the simplicity of nature. I am thankful for the corn stalks we grew in our backyard…even though the raccoons ate the corn. We are always looking for simple fall activities for the kids.

I am thankful for the corn husks and corn silks that I was able to harvest from those corn stalks. I am thankful for my child’s wonderful imagination. I am thankful that I am able to sit and watch her create the most lovely little family of peg people, inspired by the simplicity of nature. Nature crafts for kids are often the most beautiful.
A few days ago, while the girls were at school, I put together a collection of items from outside. Collected corn husks, acorn tops and leaves. I added in some yarn, glue, markers and wooden peg people. When the girls got home from school I said “Create whatever you would like.” I absolutely love what my youngest daughter made!
This lovely little nature family has two men and two ladies and two dogs. Their clothing is made from corn husks and yarn.
However you are celebrating Thanksgiving and whatever you might be thankful for this weekend, we hope you have a weekend filled with peace.
Oh goodness this is way too cute! My three year old would love this! Thank you for linking up to The Sunday Showcase.
How wonderfully creative!
These are just too cute! My three year old, who often enjoys sittin with me and browsing blogs while his baby brother naps, saw these and said, “look mom! There’s a baby, and a mom for feeding, (one of the men) and all of their friends!” {grin!}
Love this idea!! Where did you find the wooden peg people?
These are adorable, Jen! Sharing on FB and pinning. And on a different note, thanks for all you do for the Outdoor Play Party.
