Celebrate Summer Solstice with Creative Sun Crafts for Kids

By Jen

June is nearing its end with the promise of sunshine and warmer summer temperatures. The summer solstice is fast approaching. We are always on the hunt for creative summer crafts for kids, especially summer crafts for tweens, it seems fitting that we should round up fun sun crafts for kids at this time of the year.

I love celebrating the arrival of summer with crafts and art projects that are bursting with all the energy and light of a bright sunshiny day.

What is the summer solstice?

The summer solstice is the longest day of the year. The day when the sun is in the sky for many hours and minutes in one day. In the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice falls on (or around) June 21st.

Many cultures celebrate the summer solstice and honour the power and energy that the sun brings to our lives. After all, we need the sun to exist. Seems like a logical thing to celebrate to me.

What better way to celebrate than through creative sun crafts? We celebrate the winter with snowy crafts and fall crafts and spring crafts - so sun crafts are on order at this time of the year. Gather up the paintbrushes and all of the craft supplies because it is time to celebrate the summer solstice with sun crafts for kids.
