Valentine's Day Decoration - How to Make a Pom Pom Garland

By Jen

Valentine's Day Decoration Pom pom garland

I have kind of fallen in love with making pom poms. Some might say that I'm a little obsessed - especially if you come into my house. So, it only made sense to make a pom pom garland as a part of my Valentine's Day decoration. Valentine's Day decoration pom pom garland

At Christmas, I created a colourful pom pom wreath. A wreath that still hangs on our front door...because of my previously stated obsession. There is something about these lovely little puff balls that speaks to me. Yes, it could be that my head of hair resembles a pom pom ball!

Whatever the reason, I love all things boho and this pom pom garland is add a lot of love to our home.

Valentine Decoration Idea - Pom Pom Garland

yarn - pinks...whatever pink you like
scissors
safety pin

This is such a super, duper simple craft to make. You need to begin by making a big pile of pom poms. I opted to make 10 dark pink, 10 light pink and 10 white pom poms. See what I said about making a big pile. Now, I picked up this pom pom making tool at Michaels' and it has changed my pom pom life. If you don't have the tool, check out my tutorial for making pom pom without the tool...it can be done.

The tool is pretty intuitive. Start by tightly wrapping yarn around one of the semi-circles.

yarn wrapped on whole pom pom Then, close the semi-circle and start winding around the other semi-circle. Press the entire circle together.

Wrap a piece of coordinating yard, tightly, around the centre of the circle - where you just cut the yarn.

feed the pom pom with safety pin onto yarn garland Feed the safety pin through the pom pom, as close to the centre as you can...then the pom pom will hang evenly.

I picked up this chalkboard a couple of years ago and I write a new message on it depending on the season. The garland added a nice touch to our Valentine's Day vingette.
