Super Cute Printable Mother's Day Bookmarks to Colour

By Jen

We are coming up to Mother's Day. Mother's Day is a great holiday to make all kinds of crafts. Let's face it - Moms love kid-made crafts! Right? So, when planning a few Mother's Day ideas for kids to make, I knew that any mom would love to receive one of our Mother's Day bookmarks that the kids colour themselves.

My mom was a bookmark collector. I think I bought her a new bookmark every single holiday. After her passing, I held onto her collection of bookmarks...there are over 100 bookmarks! I love using them in the books I read. They remind me of her and bring a smile to my face.

I know that my mom would have loved receiving a colorful bookmark for Mother's Day, especially one that her granddaughters had made for her. Which is exactly why I made these.

Start by printing off a copy of our printable Mother's Day bookmarks. We printed ours on white cardstock. I find the heavier-weight paper is perfect for bookmarks.

Once the bookmarks are printed, it's time to get to work adding whatever colours you like. Use markers, crayons, pencil crayons – whatever you have on hand.

When the bookmark has been coloured, cut out the bookmark and you have two choices. You can use the bookmark as is or add another layer of colour. We used double-sided tape to adhere our bookmarks to a piece of colourful cardstock. I like the edge of colour peeking through. It’s totally up to you.

Another alternative is to leave the bookmark uncoloured. Cut out the bookmark and give your Mom (or Grandma) a set of pencil crayons with the bookmark. Let Mom do the colouring. That's a fun idea too!

What to gift with the Mother's Day bookmark?

I love the idea of themed gifts! So, why not give Mom a new book or magazine to go with her fun bookmark. Maybe a gardening book, cookbook or new novel. I also like the idea of giving the bookmark with a new mug and Mom's favourite tea or coffee. What would you add to the gift?

Now, these bookmarks also make a great birthday gift for mom. And, if your mom likes inspiring quotations maybe she would like one of our printable International Women's Day bookmarks. They're pretty cool.
