I have noticed a new phenomenon happening in my house. Anything one child wants to do - the other child does not want to do. It's awesome, not. So, when I suggested we go outside for a walk the other day, I was not surprised when one daughter said "great!" and my other daughter said "No way!" Well, this has new phenomenon has made me come up with creative ways to get them to come to an agreement. When it came to our walk, I suggested we draw up a map of where we were going to go...not a regular map, a magical map. Our plan was to walk through our local ravine I wanted my daughters wanted to draw a map of a magical land inside the ravine.
Apparently, our ravine is home to a never-ending meadow, a castle, a girls hotel, a boys hotel and a magical river. The best part was that when we brought our maps along on our walk and the girls looked for all the secret spots in the actual ravine.
Creating maps is one easy way to get kids excited about exploring the outdoors. Speaking of getting outside, it is time for the Outdoor Play Party! Our last Outdoor Play Party was filled with fun fall activities from around the world. Here are a few I enjoyed...
The Good Long Road shared 3 fun autumn sensory bins that cost less than $5 to make.
Check out all the fun that can be had with a simple stick over at Fireflies and Mud Pies.
Search for shapes in the playground with Toddlers Through Preschool.

I absolutely love this idea. We also have everyone wanting to do the same thing, so I just do the same thing on different levels with my guys.

Thanks so much for featuring my sensory bins. We have had so much fun with them. I also really love the magical map - what a great way to make a normal map extraordinary.

When I was a kid, we used to love making maps and navigating the outdoors. Great reminder and post!
