By Jen

I do love a good egg carton craft. And, the holiday season is a great time to bust out those empty egg cartons. I mean, if you're doing all kinds of holiday baking you are going to be able to make plenty of egg carton reindeer! This project is another one of our favourite reindeer crafts. We can't get enough of these little critters. make an egg carton reindeer craft project with title

I am always looking for ways to reduce, reuse and recycle...especially at Christmastime. So, when it comes to Christmas crafting I do love finding ways to use egg cartons, toilet paper rolls or things you can find in nature. I've been wanting to make egg carton reindeer for a while now and I finally set about making these silly little deer. Hope you have fun making this silly Christmas craft!

How to Make an Egg Carton Reindeer Craft

paper egg carton
brown acrylic paint
red and black pom pom
brown pipe cleaners
glue gun
scissors

egg carton cut into individual cells for reindeer Okay, the first step is to cut apart the egg carton. Use the scissors to cut the carton into individual cells. The egg carton cells will be the body of the reindeer. The noses, or snouts, of the reindeer, are the little bumps between two cells. You can also use the tip of the taller dividers in the egg carton. We simply need some sort of nosepiece.

You could use whatever brown paint you have on hand. You may need more than one coat. Be sure to paint right over any glue that may have squished out under the nose. This will totally hide the glue.

And, you need 2, 3-inch pieces for each antler. These shorter pieces will make the "trees" of the antlers.

Feed the long pipe cleaner into one side and out the other side of the reindeer's head. Twist the little pipe cleaner pieces onto the ends of the longer piece. Place them wherever you like.

Simply glue a loop of string to the back of each reindeer. But, I like having them hanging out around the house. I've popped our reindeer on our open shelving in our kitchen. They look pretty cute hanging out in there.
