You cannot beat a great fruit tray. Whether it’s at a party or as a snack, a fruit tray brings everyone to the table and gets them to eat all the deliciously healthy fruits. We’ve shared all kinds of fun fruit trays – Easter fruit trays, a Valentine’s Day fruit tray, Christmas fruit trays and even simple ones to celebrate summer. What completes a good fruit tray? A deliciously simple dip for fruit.strawberry greek yogurt dip for fruit platter in bowl with title of post

If you’ve ever eaten storebought fruit dips then you probably think fruit dips are grossly sweet and unnecessary. Let me assure you that a homemade fruit dip can really kick the platter of fruit up a few notches. This strawberry with greek yogurt dip is super easy to make – 3 ingredients…that’s it!

Strawberry with Greek Yogurt Dip for Fruit

1 cup vanilla greek yogurt
4 ounces (1/2 a block) cream cheese
1 1/2 tablespoons strawberry jam – the best quality you can get your hands on
* or, 2 tbsp of mashed fresh, ripe strawberries

Okay, folks, this is gonna be quick, but you need to do a little bit of prep ahead of time. Set the block of cream cheese out, to come to room temperature before working with it. It usually takes an hour or two for cream cheese to soften. Once the cheese is soft, it’s time to make the dip.

If you can’t find vanilla greek yogurt you could use plain greek yogurt and add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. Be sure to use greek yogurt for this recipe. Greek yogurt is thicker than regular yogurt. It also is higher in protein – contributing to this dip packing a protein punch. Whisk until most of the lumps are gone. It should be fairly smooth.

Add 1 tablespoon and then taste the dip and decide if you need the extra half tablespoon. Look for a jam that is packed with real fruit and isn’t packed with extra sugar. Whisk in the jam until it is fully incorporated.

It’s a lovely balance of flavours. If you are partial to another type of fruit you can substitute another type of jam. It would be lovely with blueberry or raspberry jam. What flavour jam would you add?

If you would prefer using fresh strawberries, simply mash the strawberries in a small bowl, until they are almost liquified. Add 2 tablespoons of the strawberry mash to the yogurt and cheese mixture.

Transfer the jam to your serving bowl and cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Place the fruit dip in the fridge until you are ready to serve it. You want it to be nice a chilled for the fruit.

This one includes some of my favourites – sliced kiwi and star fruit are a beautiful and colourful addition. The blueberries and raspberries can be poked onto toothpicks and then dunked in the dip. Of course, you’ll want some strawberries too. Depending on the time of the year you may have different fruit available to you. Apples and pears are great for dipping. What do you like to add to your fruit trays?
