On the verge

By Jen

I went for a walk this chilly, but sunny afternoon. On my walk I noticed that the gardens, the trees, the plants all seem to be on the verge. On the verge of popping open. On the verge of opening up after resting quietly all winter long. On the verge of showing us how beautiful they truly are.

I was at my daughters' school this evening watching her first time ever performing in the school play, in the primary choir. There she was, standing and singing...on the verge. On the verge of popping open. On the verge of showing us how beautiful she truly is. On the verge of everything that is possible for a growing girl.
This is the moment that is so fleeting. If you blink the day will be gone and you will have missed this moment. I am going to take the time to enjoy living on the verge.

oh my gosh - you are so right. In a blink they are suddenly older, more independent, more confident - everything they should be and everything I want them to be ... but it still makes me want to cry ...
