You know I love a free Father's Day printable card, craft, and activity! A few years ago, I found a "DAD" picture frame at the store, and I thought that it would be fun to make a printable version. An easy-to-print and color Dad picture frame that kids could color for Father's Day.

This printable picture frame is a great classroom or daycare Father's Day activity. Honestly, kids of all ages can get creative with this one. It's so easy to print and get creative.

double-sided tape and regular tape

For this picture frame, you will need to print both the front and the back pieces. In order for the frame to stand up properly, you will need to print on cardstock paper. It is a little heavier than regular printer paper. If you don't need the frame to stand up, then you could simply print and use the front of the picture frame, and use regular printer paper. Instead of a standing picture frame, you would make a DAD picture frame poster...which is nice too. For the front of the picture frame, I used white paper, so the kids could color the letter. I used a colorful piece of cardstock for the back piece and left it uncolored.

Once you have the front and back printed, you need to cut the frame out. For the front of the frame, you need to cut out "DAD" leaving the letters joined together. Don't cut the letters apart.

For the back of the frame, cut all the way around the box and the tabs. You need the tabs to attach the back to the front of the picture frame. Place the tabs on the back piece on the "D", "A", and "D". Tape them in place. Fold the back piece along the top edge. You are, in essence, making a folding card. You will be able to stand the picture frame up, just like a card.

Once you have everything cut out, the kids can color the letters as they like. Use markers, or pencil crayons, or whatever you like.

Next, you need to add the pictures. You have a couple of options for this. The kids can simply draw a picture in the "DAD" of themselves and their Dad. Or, you can do as we did and add actual photos. I found pictures I liked and printed them using my regular printer and printer paper. I then traced the center of the letters onto the photos. Cut out the photos. Use double-sided tape to adhere the photos to the openings in the letters.

Now the picture frame is complete, and you can stand the picture frame up.

The Dad in your life is going to love to proudly display this personalized Father's Day gift on his desk or bedside table. It's always nice to share a photo keepsake gift.
