Playing outside with chalk

By Jen

We love getting outside and playing with chalk. To be honest, I usually have a resealable bag of chalk in my purse...seriously. We are really excited to be joining jDaniel4'sMom's summer series, Playing Outside. This month it is all about Outdoor Chalk. Chalk is such an easy and inexpensive way to entertain the kids, no matter where we are. Last summer we installed a chalkboard in our backyard, and I'm happy to report it survived the winter and has been well loved. It really is one of the best things in our backyard.
Today we did something extra special with our outdoor chalk. The Mr. has been away for a week and the girls have been missing him. They wanted to make him a sign to welcome him home. The thing is, we make banners all the time and they are fun, but we needed something different this time. Then it occurred to me...chalk! I gave the girls a bucket of outdoor chalk and they got to work.

They are so excited that the first thing he will see when he gets home is their artwork and message (the pictures do not do it justice). By writing on the front steps, my husband cannot miss this chalk message. I'm excited because the chalk will simply wash away the next time it rains. There won't be any major clean up! I think we might actually work on a father's day chalk drawing for the driveway next
