February To Do

Well, if January is the longest month in the year then February is the shortest. Although it is a leap year, so February is busting out one more day. The fact is that in this house February blasts by in a flash. This February we have 2 birthday parties and one baby shower...my sister is having her first child!! So, we are in full-on party planning/hosting mode. While we made it out to a bunch of the places on the January To Do list - we might not make it out for the events this month. We'll give it our best effort.
Winterlicious (ending Feb 9th)
I mentioned this one last month, but it worth repeating. Remember this food festival only runs until February
Black History Month (ongoing)
The City of Toronto's Historic Buildings and Museums are hosting a number of special events to educate and celebrate Black History Month. Learn about the early Black community in Toronto through dramatic reenactments and activities for kids and adults alike. Or, head to the Harbourfront Centre for the Kuumba Festival (Feb 3,4,5) for a festival that includes music, a market, films and activities for kids.
Valentine's Day
Spend the day with the one you love, or hang out with the gorillas, at the Toronto Zoo. Children under 12 years of age, who bring a Valentine for an animal, get free admission to the park!
Family Day (Feb 17 - 20th)
There will be a variety of events held throughout the city over Family Day weekend. The Ontario Science Centre will be hosting an event all about the wonders of flight. Learn all about the history of chocolate at the Royal Ontario Museum. The Art Gallery of Ontario is offering a discount family pass on family day...it's all about the family. Our local neighbourhood, the Beach, will also be hosting a number of events at a number of locations.
Lunch Money Day (Feb 16th)
How much money do you spend on lunch on a typical day? Why not pack a lunch and give that money to Second Harvest. This is Second Harvest's largest fundraising intiative of the year...get out your brown bag!
Canadian International Auto Show (Feb 17 - 26th)
This one will not be missed by my young nephew! This is the place to go to check out the newest, coolest and fastest cars in the world.
The Heart Project
Find out all the details about this amazing book that was put together by 70+ bloggers and includes 100+ heart projects...all to raise money for the American Heart Association. The book will only be available in February.
Well, those are just a few of the events happening in Toronto this February. Do you know of any other events, leave them in the comments section. Let me know about any events you might have coming up in March. Have a great weekend.
