Bliss-bound

I'm not around today...I'm at my first conference as a blogger. Does this sound strange to you? Me too! But, it's real. Blissdom Canada is a social media conference, this year in Toronto, that brings together experts in new media, blogging, writing, pr, advertising, etc, etc. I found out about the event way back in March...and decided to put my money where my mouth is, sign up and go.

I can't wait to tell you all about it next week...what will I learn, who will I meet, what will I do!?

One thing I knew I had to have for this conference was business cards...

Hope you like? They've got my colours and I liked the doodle flower...something I always doodle! Next the question was what to put the business cards in? I shopped around and tried to find a "cool" business card holder...couldn't find anything that made me think of...me. Until, I stepped into one of my favourite local shops, Binz, and got my inspiration. A deck of cards inside a faux tape case...why can't I put my business cards in there...why can't I make it myself.

What you need

a tape case (you might remember these little plastic gems)
pliers
scissors
knife
decorative paper

1. empty your tape case (bye, bye Verve circa 1992)

2. use the tape case liner as a template and trace on the decorative paper

3. cut out the decorative paper and feed the paper into the empty tape case
4. use the knife to push and fold the corners snuggly in place

5. remove the "pegs" by clipping them off with the pliers

6. add your business cards

I think it works. It feels very...me. Making this card holder I had flashbacks of the hundreds of tape case liners I made in my youth. Customizing my favourite tapes...recorded from the original album! Remember??

See ya next week, have a great weekend!
