Back to School - Do Something Awesome

By Jen

Blink your eyes and you might miss it. Summer has flown by this year.

first day of school quote awesome With each passing year I find myself wishing that summer could last a little bit longer, hold a few more memories and a couple of extra sleepy mornings. After all, I am all too aware that with each passing summer we inch closer to sending our girls off to university and out into the "real world".

But, today is the first day back to school and I know that I will in the blink of an eye we will be preparing for Halloween and then Christmas. The fall will flash past.

So, today I'm living in the moment and enjoying every minute of the first day back to school.

Does anything hold more promise than the first day of school. The slate is blank. New teachers. New opportunities to do something awesome. To have a great year. Okay, I know it's also super stressful and filled with the potential for not-so-great-stuff too. I guess that's the challenge with a new school year. The unknowns are scary and anxiety inducing for kids and parents. I didn't sleep very soundly last night...worried. But, I'm putting that all aside and choosing to think of this first day of grades 7 and 10 as the start of something AWESOME for my girls.

And speaking of starting something AWESOME I'm working on something for me too.

I've put on my thinking cap...my dreaming cap...I've cracked open a new notebook and pulled out the new pencil. It's time to dream up a new adventure for this "new year".

Are you starting anything new this fall? Are you doing something awesome that you'd like to share? I'd love to hear what you're planning.

As for my plans...I guess we will have to wait and see what awesomeness will follow.

Cheers to another school year!
