Pinter-what? Wedding Shower Cupcakes

By Jen

Pinterest! I am quite enjoying Pinterest these days. If you have no idea what I am talking about then let me enlighten you. Think Google search - but with glorious images. How would you use this tool, you might ask. Easy. Looking for a gift for someone in your life, looking for a new bookcase, looking for a recipe for dinner, looking for a garden, wedding shower cupcakes ideas...whatever. Head to Pinterest - plug in what you are looking for in the "search" area - ta da! Hundreds of images and links to everything you could ever want. Now, I have no desire to be a person who actually "pins" images (adds images to a Pinterest account)...that must be time consuming...but I appreciate all the people who do!
This past weekend my sister and I hosted a wedding shower for my future sis-in-law, we check Pinterest for inspirational ideas. We came across an image for adorable shower cupcakes. We took the idea and ran with it! Here's what we did.
You will need
(adapted from pinterest)
vanilla cupcake recipe (or cake mix)
buttercream recipe
decorative blue sugar
short wooden skewers
white decorative paper
glue stick
Steps
1. make your favourite cupcake recipe (or use a cake mix), let cupcakes completely cool.

2. make your favourite buttercream recipe
3. ice cupcakes using a star tipped icing bag

4. sprinkle icing with decorative blue sugar
5. to make clouds; trace cloud shape onto piece of cardboard and cut out

6. using cardboard template, trace cloud shape onto decorative white paper

7. use glue stick to sandwich two clouds around the skewer

8. once the skewers have dried completely, poke them into the top of each cupcake
9. enjoy!
These adorable cupcakes could be used at either a wedding or baby shower. Simple to make and delicious to eat. I suggest you take a trip over to Pinterest and see what all the buzz is about - it's kinda fun - and kind of addictive. Have you been using Pinterest? What do you love about it?
