Kitchen Counter Confidential - Lil' Mop Top

By Jen

As you read yesterday, I hosted a build a library baby shower for my sister. When I was dreaming up what the invitation should look up I popped over to Etsy. I am a pretty crafty person, but I know when I can't do something...and I am not overly skilled at design on the computer. I don't have the software to do a professional job. So, why not seek out a skilled artist to help me out. When I landed on Lil' Mop Top's Etsy page I knew I found the right place. In our emails back and forth I discovered that not only does this mom sell her designs on Etsy, she also writes a blog! I knew immediately that I wanted to introduce her to all of you. Today we take a look inside Lil' Mop Top's kitchen and discover a bit more about her family and her creativity.

Tell me 3 things about yourself

I am the princess of the house! I have a wonderful husband and two sons. While I would love to have a girls for a future baby #3, it is nice to be the only girl and get spoiled by the boys in the house. Well, as much as two toddlers can spoil their mommy! I also love to be crafty and love to dance around the house.

Are you for, or against, small appliances on the kitchen counter?

I am for the ones that you use everyday. For example, my 3 year old will only have waffle and yogurt for breakfast. He has had that for the past two years! So, I need that toaster on the counter every morning. Everything else is stored away to make the counter seem a tad more tidy.

Name 5 things that are on your counter right now

Oh, boy. Toaster, Etsy orders, phone, Nerf soccer ball that my sweet boy tore apart and my purse.

What if anything, would you change about your kitchen counter?

It is laminate, so I would love granite, or granite-looking, counters. It is a plain white so it shows spots easily and stains easily. It could be a worse colour, so I am not complaining.

What is your favourite thing to do on your kitchen counter?

I love to bake with the boys. I don't really like cooking, but I have fun with the boys when we make cookies, cakes, cupcakes and other treats. They love using the mixer and they LOVE eating icing out of the bowl (they get that from their mom!) My kitchen has lots of counter space, so it is nice that we can spread out and make a big mess together.
My kids love to eat the icing right out of the bowl too, so do I! In my house we have two daughters, I guess that makes my husband the Prince in the house. I wonder if he sees it that way?? Ha! Thanks Lil' Mop Top for letting us into your kitchen...it looks like a fun place to be. Please, be sure to check out the Lil' Mop Top Etsy page, Facebook page and Lil' Mop Top blog. I know I'll be reading along in her adventures.
Have a great weekend everyone! Don't forget that tomorrow is Earth Hour...flip off all your switches and play with the kids in the dark between 8:30-9:30 pm.
Also, please swing by again on Sunday and see what we get up to in Sweden. It's time for Around the World in 12 Dishes. We discovered a magical Swedish book and would love for
you to read all about it!
