Green Life - berry container monsters

By Jen

Do these containers pile up in your kitchen?

They sure do in ours. I realize that they serve the purpose of protecting our fruit, but seriously they are just so darn wasteful. I've been trying to find ways to reuse and re-purpose these containers. I was playing around with one of the smaller containers the other day when an idea crossed my mind. What if we added an elastic...put in your hand...instant puppet. A fantastically simple way to create your very own puppet monster! Here's what we did...

You will need

elastic (large enough to wrap around the lid of the container)
berry container, ½ pint size
pom poms
white glue
tissue paper
construction paper
markers
googly eyes
whatever craft supplies you like!

1. Wrap the elastic, carefully, over the lid of the container. Position it in a spot that fits your child's hand.

2. Using the white glue to adhere the supplies...decorate your container however your child likes. Don't forget to decorate the inside too!

4. Play!

My daughters had so much fun decorating and then playing with their funny monsters. This was a great way to reuse the containers and entertain my children. I have a few more ideas for the other containers in my pile...more on that next week!
