Every year we head to the garden centre, pick out our plants, plant them in our gardens and grow beautiful healthy food. Even if we didn’t grow our own food there are many grocery stores and markets within walking distance of our home where we could easily purchase healthy food to eat. It is very hard to imagine our lives not being like this. It is hard to imagine living without access to healthy food.
In May, the next G8 Summit will be held, among the many topics being discussed will be agriculture in the developing world. ONE is an international non-profit organization, co-founded by Bono, that is hoping to make agriculture a top priority for the G8 Summit. One Mom Bloggers are asking people around the world to add their voices to the fight against poverty.
So, yesterday my daughter and I planted a seed in our kitchen, while discussing the agricultural challenges facing those in the developing world. Last year we planted our seeds in egg cartons and toilet paper rolls. Here is how we did it. This year we are planting a variety of seeds; herbs, tomatoes, corn and peas . We decided to plant 3 snow pea seeds in support of ONE.
