Fairy Houses: Build a Fairy House in a Park

fairy house in parkThe girls and I have been on the lookout for fairies for years! We haven't seen a fairy yet, but we are not deterred. In fact, every spring we build a new fairy house in our garden. Not one single sighting. My daughters have been doing some research and they are under the impression that many fairies live in parks and ravines. Fortunately, we live in a neighbourhood with plenty of parks and ravines. So, it's only logical that we should build a fairy house in the park.

First, we have to find the perfect spot to locate our tiny house. Fairies like to live under the protection of trees (according to my daughters) specifically at the base of trees. The perfect spot to build.

Next we gather sticks, flowers, leaves, rocks and any natural items we can find that will help build a strong and pleasant home.

The building of the house takes patience...often times the ceiling comes tumbling down...with a little trial and error a beautiful little house will appear.fairy house building

The very best part about building a fairy house in a park is that you have not only built a home for a fairy...you have also left something that another child can discover and enjoy. We have come across a couple of fairy houses in parks, that clearly another person has built. They are magical little treasures. Have you ever built a fairy house? More importantly, have you ever caught sight of a fairy? We'll keep looking!
