Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

by Jen on March 2, 2013 in Dr. Seuss

Here’s the truth about me and Dr. Seuss…Dr. Seuss books are like comfort food for me. You know when you bite into a plate of food that reminds you of your childhood and gives you a big hug? That’s what my Dr. Seuss books do for me. I have lugged my collection of Dr. Seuss books from my childhood home, to my first apartment, my first, second and third home. Some are in perfect condition and others are hanging on with a string. I love them all.
I don’t have each page memorized…I can’t memorize ANYTHING…but I know every word. When I read them, it’s like singing my favourite song.
Why? Why do they have this effect on me? Maybe it’s their constant presence. Maybe it’s that they remind me of my mom. Maybe it’s that I just happen to like the books. Not sure. To be honest, I don’t care. The bottom line is that Dr. Seuss (and his associates) wrote a series of books and they make me smile.
The best part…they make my kids smile too.
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss…thank you.

I think Dr. Seuss would love that photo!

What a contribution he made to children’s literature!

Oh how I adore Dr Seuss. When I was a kid, I just thought the books were hugely fun to read. Now I realize how wise he was and how many wonderful concepts he put in those books. So glad I grew up with Dr Seuss!

Thanks for your sweet comment on my project.

Have an awesome week xox
